Congratulations SwimMark Re-accrediation

Formerly called Swim21, SwimMark accreditation is Swim England’s quality standard for clubs

It recognises :
high standards of governance, sustainability and effectiveness
the creation of the best possible swimming experience for all
the raising of the quality of aquatics provision across all areas

It is a National Sport England Clubmark recognition for great quality clubs

ASC is very pleased to announce and celebrate that the Club has been awarded SwimMark Re-accreditation for 2018

It should be noted that considerable work and effort goes towards maintaining these standards and providing updated evidence to support the re-accreditation process

Thanks are given to all the Club's volunteers/Committee/Officers/coaching staff - especially the SwimMark Co-ordinator (Amanda Walker) in submission of the application and to all for their continued work in ensuring that ASC is a quality Club with high standards

16th November 2017

Results from Competitions

On behalf of the club the committee would like to apologise for the delay with some swimming competition results on the website and for our members Personal Best Times and Club Records not being published in the members area.

We have had a technical failure with some hardware where the database for these sits.

We are in the process of recovering this data and hope to have things back up and running again soon. Please note that when we do have this data recovered and we are able to get things back working correctly again there will be another small delay as we catch up with the back log of results.

This will NOT affect any times that are in the national rankings database, how competitions are run, or your entry into any competitions.

If you are using our website to enter competitions via the meet entry website, then your PB Times are currently about 3 weeks out of date and will not be updated until we have the systems back up and running, so the automatic times you will see appear on the entry form may not be a true reflection of your current PB time, so this will need to be entered.

We hope you understand our current situation and please bare with us while we sort this out.

We will update everyone on here when this issue has been resolved.

Open Meets Information

Aside from Club Champs there are two main types of competition open to swimmers – Gala’s and Open Meets.

Gala’s are club events, where Arnold compete as a team against other local clubs. Swimmers for the Galas are invited to compete and are selected by the coaches.

Open Meets are one or two day events staged by swimming clubs across the country. Swimmers, although representing Arnold, compete in these meets on an individual basis. So long as you satisfy the entry criteria anyone can compete in these events. Sometimes these meets may clash with Gala’s and if this is the case the Club would ask that you prioritise attendance at the Gala’s.

The process of identifying Open Meets to compete in, selecting the races, making the entry and then knowing what to do on the day can be a confusing and daunting one, particularly as you have to enter these events so far in advance.

Therefore, to help in this process Will Oates has volunteered to undertake the role of Open Meet co-ordinator with the aim of helping parents both select and enter open meets as well as offering general guidance on the process. Accordingly, over the coming weeks he will be letting you know about various Open Meets which have opened for entry and suggesting which swimmers these meets are suitable for.

If you have any queries about entries or how the process works then please feel free to speak to Will at training - usually at Arnold on Monday and Tuesday and Southglade on Wednesday.

Wedding Bells

It's wedding bells this coming weekend for David Fortescue (long standing club member) and Rachel Swinburne

David became a member when he joined the club as a junior swimmer. He continues to train and swim competitively with the club (when he can). David is a highly qualified official attending county, regional and national events throughout the country and the fountain of knowledge for the electronic timing systems used at competitions. He also holds many hats for the club as a volunteer looking after membership, website, social media and our own Ernehale Open Meet - the Club would not be where it is without him

Rachel (and parents Malcolm & Denise) are no strangers either. As friends to the Club for many years they are often seen officiating / helping at galas and competitions especially at our Club Championships and Ernehale Open

The Club sends them both our very best wishes for a lovely wedding day and the future
