Rohan competes for Arnold Swimming Club at Coventry

Through all the preparation for the Acorn meet we missed congratulating Rohan Watkins in achieving and swimming at the Midland Youth Championships at Coventry earlier this month, swimming in the 100 Breaststroke Rohan swam a 1:15.75.

The coaching team all agree that Rohan is probably swimming the best breaststroke of his career having earlier this year broken a club record in the 100 breaststroke which stood for over 20 years.

Well done Rohan from all at Arnold Swimming Club.

Arnold SC Deliver Egg Donation to QMC

On Friday the 13th April a few of our Swimmers and Parents went to E38 ward at the QMC, Jo Keen suggested that the children at Arnold Swimming Club donate one of their Easter Eggs to the children's ward and we never like to say NO! So Graham Davies made some flyers for the club desk and then the Swimmers started to bring in their eggs, with this Michelle Parker decided to contact Sainsbury's and asked if they would like to donate some eggs to the children's ward, Dave Kemp at Sainsbury's wasted no time in saying YES!

We arrived on the ward at 2.30pm and we asked if we could have some photos took with the children and the lovely Sister Sarah Tomlinson said yes that wouldn't be a problem.

Easter Egg Donation
Dear ALL Swimmers/Parents/Carers at Arnold Swimming Club.

This Easter the club has decided to try to round up as many Easter Eggs as possible and then donate them to the Children's Ward at the Queens Medical Centre.

We aim to do this by asking you all to 'surrender' just one of the eggs you receive over Easter.

It would be great to be able to donate as many eggs as possible to the Children's Ward!!

Please bring any Easter Eggs, still wrapped in the original packaging and in date, to the club desks on the 10th, 11th or 12th April.

Many thanks to you all

UK Olympic hopeful, Jo Jackson gives exclusive swimming lesson

UK Olympic hopeful Jo Jackson, will be sharing her love of swimming when she makes an appearance at the Arnold Swimming Club on 19 March 2012, to give the club's members an exclusive swimming lesson.

Jo, who has been swimming competitively since the age of eight, and first represented Britain at 14, is generously taking time out of her Olympic training schedule to provide the members of the Arnold Club with what will undoubtedly be an inspiring and exciting evening.

In 2009, Jo set two World Records and won three medals at the World Championships in Rome and is now hoping to be part of the GB swimming squad going for gold this summer. Jo's events include the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle and the relays; she has been a member of Team GB at the last two Olympic Games, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, winning bronze in the 400m freestyle in Beijing. Prior to that, she won two silver medals in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Jo comments: "Swimming is my passion and offering the members of the Arnold Swimming Club a lesson is a huge privilege. This event offers everyone an opportunity to learn new things and at the same time enjoy themselves. I am looking forward to it!"
Cirrus Healthcare is a proud sponsor of Jo Jackson. Jo uses Cirrus Healthcare's pioneering ear care products, including BioEars which has been specifically designed for swimmers. It is the world's first anti-microbial earplug which helps protect the ear from infections germinating in the water. Jo is also a fan of ClearEars, the world's first water removal earplug. Again, this product is great for swimmers and people who shower.

Both products are available at Boots, Superdrug and leading pharmacies everywhere. For more information on the products, visit, www.cirrushealthcare.co.uk
