Log Books
			Arnold Swimming Club now has its very own log book for swimmers. The log book is designed to help swimmers and coaches keep track of individual developments and set targets that you as a swimmer want to achieve, along with useful information regarding drug control, contact details for support and advice dedicated to swimmers, and top tips and techniques to help swimmers with successful warm ups and swim downs. The log book is available to all members through the members section of the Clubs website. This can either be saved on your computer and keep records electronically or printed off to be kept with you on poolside at training sessions or gala competitions.
	Password Protection
	As most of you will now be aware, Arnold Swimming Clubs Personal Best times and Club Records page on the website has now been password protected. The protection for this page requires you to input a Username and a Password. These will both be changed periodically. If you do not know the current Username and Password then please enquire at the club desk on training nights. Future Usernames and Passwords will be e-mailed out to members, and reminders will only be issued out by e-mail to those members who have their e-mail address registered with the club. Please keep your contact details up to date with the club.
	Farewell
	After a few years service to Arnold Swimming Club, Sean Harrison, one of our team managers, has announced his resignation from his role within the club. We wish Sean all the best for his future career and life away from the club, and a big thank you from everyone at the club for all of the time and hard work you have given the club over the past few years.
	Pool Closures
	Due to Arnold Leisure Centre performing on going maintenance work to the swimming pool, changing rooms and surrounding areas, Arnold Swimming Club have had to cancel a number of sessions over the past few months. We regret to inform you that as the maintenance work is still on going there are still further closures due in the near future. Please keep checking the club’s website and the club desk for information regarding upcoming closures.
	Congratulations to Andrew Zawadzki
	Towards the end of 2007 Andrew Zawadzki was invited to the Notts County Council Disabilities Sports Unit Christmas Party and Presentation Evening. Once there Andrew found out that he had been nominated for the “Young Persons Services to Sports” Award - for his voluntary efforts on a Sunday evening teaching a 10 year old boy with ADHD to swim - and to Andrews surprise, Andrew was the proud recipient of the award. Arnold Swimming Club would just like to say a huge congratulations to Andrew and we hope that his efforts are continued in his voluntary work with these children to greater their success and their development in swimming.

We will do our best to get your article into the newsletter if it is appropriate. Some things to consider: We will only publish items that are appropriate to swimming or the club. The newsletter is only published every 3 months.
	Results
			Following on from the previous success from all of Arnold’s gala squads, Arnold Swimming Club finished the 2007 season off with even more success. Our older swimmers finished the final two rounds of the Notts and District League claiming 5th place in the second round with 5 PB times set and breaking a Club Record. This placed the team in the C final where we had a brilliant competition, leading the gala, tying points with Bramcote Swimming Club right up until the last few races. Finally claiming a 2nd place losing out by only 4 points, achieving 13 1st places and setting 17 PB times.
	Meanwhile, the other half of our older swimming squad also finished the 2007 season off in style in the Speedo League. After the amazing success from our swimmers in the first round, we realised that the standard had been set for the next 2 rounds and what an achievement our swimmers made. Claiming a second 1st place with an 11 point lead over CABSC - B, and our swimmers claiming 19 1st places, setting 5 PB times and smashing 16 Club Records. For the final round held in December we had very high hopes for continuing the success of our swimmers, and a continued performance impressed us all. Claiming a third 1st place in consecutive galas beating all other teams that our swimmers were put up against, with 11 1st places, 9 PB times and 16 Club Records set. This put Arnold at the top of the league table in our group and secured us a place in the final placing swim-off. The swim-off was held in January where Arnold claimed 6th place against some very strong opponents with 4 1st places, 9 PB’s and 3 Club records. With the success of our swimmers in this first season of the Speedo League, we should expect to be entered into the 2008 season in a very high position later this year.
	Some of our swimmers also took part in 2 Open Meets arranged for the end of 2007. The first of these was the Mansfield Major Oak, where Arnold swimmers achieved a total of 45 PB times and 9 Club Records over 83 swims. The second of the Open Meets was the Falcon Open Meet held at Beechdale Baths. Arnold’s swimmers who took part in this gala claimed 26 PB times and a Club Record over a total of 58 swims.
	Finally some of our swimmers also took part in the Chesterfield Open, competing in 22 events and achieving a total of 11 PB times and setting a new Club record. Throughout November and December, some training sessions were used as unofficial time trials for the 2008 County Championships. The idea of these time trials was to get qualifying times for swimmers who either did not normally swim in galas and also for those to get qualifying times for events that they would not normally swim. These proved to be of great benefit as 46 qualifying times were achieved. As coaches have found, doing time trials later in the year - with the following years county championships in mind - has been very beneficial. The clubs committee along with the coaches have decided to move the Annual Club Championships to the end of the year to give more of our swimmers the chance of achieving Qualifying times for the County championships. In place of our usual Club Championships we will now hold time trials and this change will be effective from this year. League Galas Minor Galas Round 1 - 2 teams, claiming 2nd and 4th places respectively. 14 1st places, 31 PB times and 2 Club Records. Round 2 - 2 teams, claiming 1st and 5th places respectively. 21 1st places, 24 PB times and 4 Club Records. A very impressive start for 2008 from our younger swimmers. Lets hope that our high standards set so far will continue into the final round to be held in March. Spring Competition Round 1—Claimed 2nd place. 10 1st places, 10 PB times and 2 Club Records. Round 2—Claimed 4th place. 2 1st places, 9 PB times and 2 Club Records. A strong start from our older swimmers starting off the 2008 season. Keeping up the hard work should see Arnold’s swimmers doing well in the final round to be held in May.
			Trophy Galas Arnold Swimming Club have only attended one trophy gala so far this year. This was the Leslie Large charity fun gala, involving “fun hats” and beach balls. In this gala we had a full variety of our swimmers ranging from our youngest swimmers to our oldest swimmers. Despite this gala being a “fun” gala our swimmers managed to claim 19 PB times on the night, along with a lot of laughs. Open Meets
	This year has seen the first of many open meet galas scheduled to take place this year, with the first being the Leander Open. Attending this meet Arnold had 17 swimmers who entered and competed in 65 events claiming a total of 37 PB times. The second Open Meet held this year was the Long Eaton Open, which was only entered by one swimmer from Arnold, Amy Tribbick. Amy competed in 3 events claiming a new PB time in each. County Championships The 2008 Nottinghamshire County Championships are well under way now with 9 of the 13 sessions already completed with the lest few sessions happening over the next few weeks. Great success has already been achieved and we wish all of our swimmers still to compete the best of luck showing their abilities to the rest of the county.
